Advancing Technology Innovation for the AI Era
Having led Broadcom’s Infrastructure Software Group for the past nine months—and spent over 14 years at Broadcom building networking products for the world’s largest data centers—I firmly believe that product and technology leadership are the only ways to deliver value at scale. Our commitment is to invest aggressively in our technology roadmap, ensuring our software portfolios meet the intense demands of modern enterprise infrastructure. In my discussions with our customers and partners, a few key market realities have become clear:
- The Return to On-Prem: The conversation around cloud adoption has shifted. Organizations now recognize that while cloud has a place, steady-state, mature workloads often belong on-premises due to significant economic and operational advantages.
- Hardware Scarcity: Hardware is—and will remain for the next few years—a scarce resource. Whether it’s CPUs or memory, we must maximize utilization. Enterprises can no longer afford the inefficiencies of fragmented, bare-metal silos.
- Data Sovereignty: Security and privacy are paramount. Enterprises prefer to bring compute to their data, rather than moving data off-premises.
- Avoiding AI Silos: As companies embark on their AI journey, they should not be forced to build entirely new infrastructure silos for AI. We need one platform that handles compute, networking, storage, and security for all workloads—traditional and AI alike.
For over 25 years, VMware’s mission has been to abstract applications from the underlying hardware. Today, the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) platform—built on over 70 million lines of code—is the abstraction layer that allows you to manage this complexity. Looking forward, we are fundamentally changing how you operate:
- Security Embedded, Not Separate: Security is no longer a separate “buying center.” We are embedding it directly into the code.
- No Trade-off for Upgrades: We are delivering virtual patching and live updates. You will no longer have to choose between keeping your infrastructure current and avoiding application downtime.
- AI-Driven Automation: We are using AI tools to automate VCF operations, significantly reducing toil so you can keep things running smoothly without adding complexity.
Our goal is simple: to provide the platform that allows you to navigate these shifts and innovate rapidly, without the burden of managing disparate infrastructure silos. Abstracting complexity, maximizing hardware efficiency, and embedding ironclad security are at the heart of everything we build for our customers. Broadcom is deeply committed to delivering the technology leadership and roadmaps you need to innovate rapidly and succeed on every step of your private AI cloud journey.
