Uber and NVIDIA Partner to Build One of the World’s Largest Autonomous Vehicle Networks

Uber Technologies, Inc. today announced a major collaboration with NVIDIA to accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation autonomous mobility solutions, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of robotaxis and automated delivery fleets. By leveraging NVIDIA’s powerful AI architecture, Uber aims to create one of the world’s largest networks of self-driving vehicles, capable of operating at scale across global markets.

At the heart of this partnership lies NVIDIA’s latest DRIVE AGX Hyperion autonomous vehicle platform, featuring the safety-certified NVIDIA DriveOS operating system and the full-stack NVIDIA DRIVE AV software—a solution specifically designed for Level 4 (L4) autonomy, which enables vehicles to drive themselves under most conditions without human intervention.

Expanding Global Robotaxi and Delivery Fleets

The first phase of the collaboration will see Stellantis, one of the world’s largest automotive manufacturers, deliver at least 5,000 NVIDIA-DRIVE-powered L4 vehicles to Uber. These vehicles will be deployed for robotaxi operations in the U.S. and international markets, forming the foundation of Uber’s rapidly expanding autonomous fleet.

Uber will manage the entire lifecycle of fleet operations—including remote monitoring and assistance, charging, cleaning, maintenance, and customer support—ensuring the robotaxi experience meets Uber’s global safety and service standards.

A Scalable and Open AV Ecosystem

The Uber-NVIDIA partnership is not limited to Uber’s in-house initiatives. Both companies are collaborating to support a broad Level 4 global ecosystem, working alongside industry pioneers such as Aurora, Avride, May Mobility, Momenta, Motional, Nuro, Pony.ai, Waabi, Wayve, and WeRide.

By integrating NVIDIA’s DRIVE AGX Hyperion 10 platform—a production-ready, modular compute and sensor architecture—with Uber’s robust mobility and operations infrastructure, the collaboration provides a scalable, open technology stack for autonomous driving.

This integrated framework allows Uber and its partners to seamlessly deploy a variety of autonomous vehicles—from passenger cars and delivery vans to long-haul trucks—using the same underlying AI-driven architecture. NVIDIA’s DRIVE AV software stack offers a comprehensive suite of Level 4 autonomy capabilities, ensuring vehicles can navigate complex urban and highway environments safely and efficiently.

Accelerating Physical AI Through a Joint Data Factory

Beyond vehicles, the partnership extends to data infrastructure, the critical foundation of modern AI development. Uber and NVIDIA are establishing a robotaxi data factory powered by NVIDIA Cosmos, a next-generation platform for physical AI—the convergence of simulation, real-world data, and continuous learning.

Uber will contribute more than 3 million hours of driving data from its global operations, including high-fidelity sensor captures, video feeds, and environmental data from diverse geographies. This rich dataset will be instrumental in training and validating L4 autonomy models.

NVIDIA, in turn, will provide its high-performance GPUs, Cosmos software, and a suite of tools for data curation, search, labeling, simulation, and large-scale model training. The combination of Uber’s vast real-world driving data and NVIDIA’s AI infrastructure creates a powerful continuous learning loop that enables faster model refinement and safer deployment cycles.

The data factory is designed as a complete end-to-end engine—covering every step from data ingestion and scenario mining to synthetic data generation, simulation-based validation, and autonomy software optimization. This approach will dramatically shorten the path from prototype to production, helping Uber move from pilot programs to profitable, large-scale deployments of self-driving vehicles.
