Castles Technology and Loomis Pay Partnership Brings Advanced Android Payment Solutions to Europe

Major Payment Technology Alliance Reshapes European POS Market

The European payment acceptance landscape is undergoing a significant transformation as two industry leaders join forces to address evolving merchant needs. Castles Technology, a global authority in Android-based payment devices, has entered a strategic partnership with Loomis Pay—the POS and digital payment division of Loomis—to accelerate expansion across key European markets.

This collaboration addresses a critical challenge facing today’s merchants: the need for payment infrastructure that seamlessly handles cash, card, and digital transactions while maintaining security, flexibility, and ease of deployment.

Strategic Selection Process Identifies Android Innovation Leader

Following a comprehensive market evaluation, Loomis Pay selected Castles Technology based on the company’s proven track record in Android payment solutions. The partnership centers on deploying multiple Castles devices tailored to different merchant environments, including the portable S1F4 Pro, the PINPAD S1P2, and the S1U2M4 for unattended payment scenarios. Additionally, Loomis Pay will leverage Castles’ CasHUB TMS and Marketplace platforms.

The development process involved close collaboration with Seitatech, a Finnish payment technology specialist, to create a complete software suite connecting the terminals to Loomis’ POS and payment gateway infrastructure. Remarkably, this comprehensive end-to-end solution achieved full deployment within months—a timeline that proved instrumental in cementing the partnership.

Proven Success in Norwegian Pilot Program

Before committing to large-scale deployment, the partnership underwent rigorous testing through a pilot program in Norway earlier this year. The results demonstrated both the technological robustness and operational viability of the solution, with Castles devices successfully deployed across 17 locations and expansion continuing.

“We are honored to support Loomis Pay in its mission to attract new customers,” said Jean-Philippe Niedergang, Acting Group CEO and EMEA-PACIFIC-LATAM CEO at Castles Technology. “Our Android devices deliver the innovation, reliability, and agility required to lead in the fast changing payments landscape.”

Multi-Market Rollout Targets Nordic and Southern Europe

Building on pilot program momentum, Loomis Pay will now execute a scaled deployment across four initial markets: Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Spain. This strategic market selection positions the partnership to serve diverse merchant segments across Northern and Southern European commerce ecosystems.

The Android-based architecture offers merchants significant advantages, including faster time-to-market for new payment features, seamless integration with existing systems, and enhanced user experiences for both merchants and consumers.

Industry Implications and Market Positioning

Erik Zingmark, MD Loomis Pay and CEO Loomis Digital Solutions AB, emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership: “As a leader in innovation within cash, POS, and payments, Loomis is executing a clear strategic plan to transform the European cash, payments and POS market. Castles Technology’s expertise and responsiveness make them an ideal partner to support our expansion and ensure an excellent customer experience.”

With over 30 years of industry experience and millions of POS terminals deployed globally, Castles Technology brings substantial credentials to the collaboration. The company serves thousands of customers worldwide, including banks, merchants, FinTechs, acquirers, independent software vendors, and payment service providers.

The partnership reflects broader industry trends toward unified commerce solutions that eliminate friction between payment methods while maintaining robust security standards. As European merchants increasingly demand flexible payment acceptance capable of adapting to changing consumer preferences, Android-based platforms offer the versatility and scalability necessary for long-term competitiveness.

This alliance positions both companies to capitalize on the ongoing digital transformation of European commerce while providing merchants the tools needed to meet evolving customer expectations across all payment channels.
