Calix and Google Cloud Partner To Advance AI-Driven Broadband

Calix Unveils Next-Generation AI Broadband Platform Built on Google Cloud to Accelerate Provider Transformation

Calix has introduced the next evolution of its Broadband Platform, engineered to unlock the full potential of agentic artificial intelligence for broadband service providers (BSPs). Purpose-built to transform workflows, data management, security, and real-time insights, the new Calix Platform is the culmination of 14 years of cloud-based innovation and deep operational understanding of the broadband industry. Now powered by Google Cloud’s trusted AI and data infrastructure—including Vertex AI and Gemini—this platform extension delivers secure and scalable agentic AI that will redefine how BSPs operate, innovate, and grow in the rapidly advancing AI era.

Launching later this quarter, the Google Cloud–enabled Calix Platform introduces advanced capabilities that allow BSPs to:

  • Streamline operations with intelligent automation that reduces manual tasks, improves efficiency, and accelerates response time across the organization.
  • Innovate at speed using decision-making agents that deliver actionable insights, enabling personalized subscriber services and faster service rollouts.
  • Maximize business value through new revenue streams, improved subscriber loyalty, and strengthened financial performance—while reducing the burden on internal teams.

These advancements reflect significant, measurable success already achieved by Calix customers. Service providers using Calix Cloud solutions—including Service Cloud, Operations Cloud, and Engagement Cloud—have reported standout results such as as much as a 65% increase in first-call resolution, reduced churn, greater productivity, and up to 65% revenue growth driven by smarter, targeted marketing efforts. The platform remains a core engine powering critical areas of provider operations: customer service optimization, marketing intelligence, and operational automation.

Since late 2023, Calix has committed over $100 million in strategic investment to evolve its platform specifically for agentic AI enablement. This effort is anchored by a multi-layer architecture designed to deliver secure, context-aware automation at scale. It begins with a powerful data layer that aggregates telemetry and behavioral data from across provider systems. That data feeds a knowledge layer equipped with machine learning, embeddings, knowledge graphs, and robust Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) models—ensuring large language models (LLMs) operate with accuracy and real-world contextual understanding.

Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers further enhance this foundation by connecting mission-critical data from workforce management, marketing, ticketing, and more—all in real time. An orchestration and trust layer then enables autonomous task execution through secure AI agents across field service teams, subscriber communications, network operations, and customer experience. Together, these layers allow BSPs to confidently introduce automation that enhances—not replaces—their workforce.

Google Cloud serves as the intelligent backbone of this innovation. Using Vertex AI, the Agent Development Kit, and Gemini models, Calix embeds sophisticated AI agents into daily workflows, creating what the company calls the Calix Agent Workforce. These agents are built to securely assist human teams in reducing complexity across marketing, support, and operations—while ensuring BSPs maintain full control over data privacy and security.

The upgraded Calix Cloud is built on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) for large-scale service orchestration, supported by Google Cloud’s leading data services including BigQuery for centralized analytics and Spanner for real-time data consistency across geographies. Google’s enterprise-grade security framework underpins the entire platform, ensuring compliance, resilience, and trustworthiness as providers modernize their architectures.

Angelo Libertucci, Global Head of Industry for Telecom at Google Cloud, emphasized that the partnership is centered on preparing providers for success in the AI-driven future. “By combining the reliable performance of Google Cloud infrastructure with Calix’s broadband expertise and secure AI agents, we are enabling BSPs to dramatically simplify operations and deliver predictive experiences at scale,” he said.

Shane Eleniak, Chief Product Officer at Calix, noted that only a fully integrated, end-to-end AI-optimized platform can deliver the transformation service providers now require. “We are democratizing data, knowledge, and trust,” Eleniak said. “These advancements embed intelligent AI capabilities directly into operational workflows for smarter decisions and unprecedented efficiency.”

The announcement underscores Calix’s long-standing commitment to innovation: 26 years of broadband leadership and more than $2 billion invested in technology—including continued expansion of its AI roadmap. Additionally, every Calix customer gains access to Calix Success, the company’s award-winning support organization that helps providers activate AI and align teams for maximum value.

“AI is here, and it is changing everything,” said Michael Weening, Calix President and CEO. “Our deep customer partnerships and platform expertise, combined with Google Cloud’s AI infrastructure, allow us to deliver the most powerful broadband platform for the AI era. Together, we’re giving BSPs what they need to radically simplify, innovate faster, and lead their markets.”
