OpenAI Expands Access to Frontier Models, Including GPT-6 Astra
Under a new agreement, our engineering and product development teams get broader access to OpenAI frontier models. Under a new agreement, we’re giving Airbnb engineering and product development teams broader access to OpenAI frontier models, including GPT-6 Astra.The expansion builds on our use of Codex and our longstanding collaboration with OpenAI. Airbnb engineers use an internal AI tooling platform to write software and to create remote AI agents powered by models including Codex and GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna.
The agreement gives us broader access to OpenAI models through OpenAI’s APIs and Amazon Bedrock on AWS, Airbnb’s preferred cloud provider. It comes as more developers, builders, and companies adopt GPT-6 Astra, many of them already working with the improved price-performance and efficiency of GPT-5.6 Terra and Luna. Our early work with GPT-6 Astra shows strong results beyond coding. Astra helps our engineers move faster by tracking down difficult bugs, shaping system designs, and thinking through engineering approaches.

We also use OpenAI models in search, fraud prevention, guest and host support, and insurance claims. This work across our marketplace helps us better understand what guests are looking for, flag potentially fraudulent content and claims, help guests when travel plans change, and get hosts their insurance payouts faster. As we bring more of the trip into one app—across homes, services, experiences, airport pickups, and car rentals—OpenAI frontier models give the teams building those features more tools to move faster and explore what comes next.
