Expedia Group Expands B2B Platform and Launches GenAI Partnerships to Revolutionize Travel Discovery

In a groundbreaking move, Expedia Group has announced a major expansion of its B2B technology platform, introducing new APIs, advertising innovations, and GenAI-powered partnerships designed to transform how partners and travelers engage with the travel ecosystem. These advancements aim to empower B2B partners with smarter tools while enhancing the traveler experience through cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) and automation.

Unlocking End-to-End Trip Packaging for B2B Partners

At the heart of this expansion is a suite of new APIs that unlock end-to-end trip packaging for B2B partners, enabling them to offer seamless, integrated travel experiences. These APIs cover key aspects of the travel journey, including:

  1. Car API: Provides access to inventory from over 110 brands across 190 countries and territories, including exclusive offerings from 43 providers.
  2. Activities API: Offers more than 170,000 bookable experiences worldwide, allowing partners to enrich their travel packages.
  3. Insurance API: Currently in testing on Expedia TAAP (Travel Agent Affiliate Program), this feature allows partners to integrate trip protection into the booking process.
  4. Air API: Enables seamless integration of air travel with lodging and car rentals, creating an all-in-one booking solution.

These APIs are fueled by AI and automation, driving deeper customer engagement, stronger loyalty, and new revenue streams for partners. According to Alfonso Paredes, President of Private Label Solutions at Expedia Group, “We’ve built the largest connected B2B travel network in the world, and it’s the strength of those connections that drive real results. Our newly announced APIs take that even further, making it easier for partners to access more supply and leverage our intelligence.”

Additionally, Expedia Group Advertising now offers Sponsored Listings, creating new monetization opportunities for hotel-advertising partners and expanding their reach to untapped audiences.

Streamlining Operations with the Reservation Management API

Expedia Group is also rolling out its Reservation Management API, a game-changing solution designed to reduce operational costs for hotel partners. This API introduces 15 new features, built with GraphQL for enhanced performance and simplified development. It enables hoteliers to manage bookings, streamline payments, recover data, and elevate the traveler experience—all within their existing software systems.

By automating manual workflows, the Reservation Management API is projected to save partners an estimated 8 million hours and $120 million annually in operational costs. Real-time issue resolution enhances operational autonomy, aligning with Expedia Group’s vision of Autonomous Supply, which aims to create a more efficient, tech-enabled industry operating model.

Redefining Travel Discovery with GenAI Innovations

Expedia Group is leveraging Generative AI (GenAI) to reimagine how travelers discover, plan, and book trips. The company unveiled Expedia Trip Matching, an industry-first feature that turns Instagram reels into personalized, bookable travel itineraries. Launching in early June, this tool allows users to share any publicly available travel-related reel with Expedia and receive tailored destination ideas, travel tips, and customized itineraries based on the content they love.

This innovation bridges the gap between inspiration and action, transforming short-form video into a dynamic planning tool. Travelers can access the beta version at Expedia.com/tripmatching.com.

Expedia Group is also integrating with OpenAI Operator and Microsoft Copilot Actions to expand its search and discovery capabilities beyond its owned platforms. These integrations ensure that Expedia’s brands are present where travel planning increasingly begins—on GenAI platforms.

Another highlight is the latest release of the AI Agent on Hotels.com, which combines conversational discovery, shopping, and servicing into a seamless end-to-end experience. By tapping into Expedia Group’s rich travel data, the AI Agent delivers smart recommendations with real-time pricing, guest reviews, and contextual imagery. For travelers with existing bookings, the AI Agent provides contextual prompts to guide changes to their plans.

Behind the scenes, Expedia Group’s proprietary Artificial Creative Intelligence (ACI) system enhances personalization at scale by moderating over 400 videos daily, generating content, and optimizing engagement across channels. These advancements make travel discovery more dynamic, data-driven, and instantly actionable.

New Advertising Solutions for Travel Marketers

Expedia Group Advertising, formerly Media Solutions, introduced a suite of media upgrades focused on reaching travelers during the critical inspiration phase. Key highlights include:

  1. Creative Collaboration with Beautiful Destinations: Partners can co-create viral, shoppable travel content at scale, reaching over 50 million followers of Beautiful Destinations.
  2. Enhanced Offsite Targeting via The Trade Desk: Leveraging Expedia Group’s robust first-party data, partners can target high-intent audiences in a privacy-first, post-cookie world.
  3. Advertiser-Funded Loyalty: Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) can sponsor bonus OneKeyCash rewards, incentivizing visits to their destinations and driving higher-value bookings.

As Rob Torres, SVP of Expedia Group Advertising, explained, “Through our travel media network, we continue to launch new solutions across data, loyalty, and strategic partnerships to drive results and deliver more value for travelers.”

Launch of Powering Travel Podcast Season 5

Adding to the excitement, Expedia Group announced the upcoming launch of Season 5 of the Powering Travel podcast. Hosted by Elisabeth Goodridge, this season will feature thought-provoking conversations with industry leaders, including Ariane Gorin, CEO of Expedia Group, actor Jaime Camil, happiness expert Arthur Brooks, and Phil Keoghan, host of The Amazing Race.
