Facility Grid Appoints Daniel Russo as CEO to Lead Next-Gen Construction and Sustainability Software

Facility Grid, a Nexa Equity Partners portfolio company and a leading provider of cloud-based construction and sustainability software, has announced the appointment of Daniel Russo as its new Chief Executive Officer. Russo brings three decades of leadership experience in software development, product management, and scaling high-growth SaaS businesses, positioning Facility Grid for a new era of innovation and customer-centric solutions.

A Proven Leader in Software and Real Estate Technology

Daniel Russo joins Facility Grid from JLL, a Fortune 200 global real estate services company, where he served as CEO of Building Engines and President of the JLLT Property Management Technology (PMT) division. During his tenure, he led over 500 employees and helped grow Building Engines into the #1 platform for commercial property management, cementing his reputation as a visionary leader in construction technology and property management software.

Prior to JLL, Russo accelerated growth at Building Engines under Wavecrest Growth Partners, serving as Chief Product Officer. His efforts helped scale the business and culminated in its acquisition by JLL at 10 times revenue. Russo also held executive product leadership roles at Vista Equity Partners’ portfolio companies, including Lanyon and Cvent, honing his expertise in enterprise SaaS, AI-driven software, and operational efficiency tools.

Driving Innovation in Construction and Sustainability Solutions

As CEO of Facility Grid, Russo will focus on enhancing go-to-market strategies and product development processes to maximize value for clients. Facility Grid’s cloud-based platform is designed to streamline commissioning (Cx), operational readiness (OR), and sustainability services, enabling building owners, general contractors, and trade contractors to efficiently track, verify, and manage building systems throughout construction and operations.

“Facility Grid has a fantastic product and wonderful customers, and I’m excited to expand on this strong foundation,” said Russo. With his extensive background in software engineering, AI, and high-growth SaaS scaling, Russo aims to optimize AI integration in Facility Grid’s platform, providing users with a seamless, all-in-one construction and sustainability software experience.

Addressing Fragmentation in the Real Estate and Construction Industry

Russo highlighted a key challenge in the construction and real estate sectors: fragmentation. Owners often rely on 15+ niche software products, creating siloed data that prevents scalability and operational efficiency. By leveraging AI and data-driven solutions, Facility Grid seeks to unify these fragmented workflows, enabling smarter decision-making, improved project outcomes, and enhanced sustainability performance.

Partnership with Nexa Equity Partners: Fueling Growth

Russo’s appointment follows Facility Grid’s strategic investment from Nexa Equity Partners, a growth-focused private equity firm dedicated to scaling B2B software businesses. This partnership marks a milestone in Facility Grid’s mission to provide cutting-edge software solutions that empower commissioning providers, building owners, and contractors to achieve operational excellence, sustainable building performance, and measurable efficiency gains.
