FPT Partners with LAPI ITB and Digital Utama Lestari to Accelerate Indonesia’s Innovation-Led Digital Economy
Global technology leader FPT Corporation has announced a strategic partnership with LAPI ITB, a consulting and professional services organization owned by Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), and Digital Utama Lestari (DUL), a digital transformation consulting firm. This trilateral alliance aims to advance Indonesia’s National Digital Transformation agenda, propelling the country toward a more competitive, innovation-led digital economy.
Through the collaboration, the three organizations will combine their complementary strengths—FPT’s global technology expertise, LAPI ITB’s academic and research leadership, and DUL’s deep local market understanding—to drive modernization across both public and private sectors. Together, they plan to co-develop scalable digital platforms, implement advanced technology systems, and deliver large-scale modernization programs in support of Indonesia’s long-term digital vision. The initiative is expected to generate up to USD 100 million in total revenue over five years, underlining its strategic and economic significance.
Transforming Key National Systems
The partnership will focus on developing national digital platforms designed to improve governance and citizen services. These include platforms for cooperatives and public administration, as well as the modernization of taxation and financial systems, enhancing efficiency and transparency in public finance management.
Another key focus will be on smart tourism and regional digitalization, enabling local economies to adopt data-driven tools that promote tourism, sustainability, and regional competitiveness. The collaboration aligns closely with the Indonesian government’s broader mission to strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure and position Indonesia as a leader in Southeast Asia’s digital economy.
Beyond these domains, the partnership will also explore emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, cybersecurity, high-performance computing (HPC), and semiconductor innovation. Each of these technologies plays a vital role in building resilient, efficient, and future-ready digital ecosystems.
Driving Innovation Across Critical Sectors
The FPT–LAPI ITB–DUL collaboration is set to accelerate digital transformation in key industries, including agriculture, healthcare, logistics, energy, smart cities, and financial services. By combining global and local expertise, the initiative aims to introduce intelligent solutions that not only optimize operations but also support inclusive and sustainable growth.
An essential component of the partnership is human capital development. Together, the partners will launch technology training programs, certification schemes, and joint research facilities in collaboration with leading academic institutions. These programs are intended to cultivate Indonesia’s next generation of digital professionals, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an AI-driven economy.
To further reinforce its local presence, FPT also plans to open a new office in Bandung, Indonesia’s third-largest city and a growing hub for technology and innovation. The new center will work closely with LAPI ITB to promote joint research, innovation, and workforce development—cementing Bandung’s position as a regional digital innovation hub.
Executive Perspectives
“Vietnam is entering a new era of economic transformation, driven by innovation, private enterprise, and regional collaboration,” said Dr. Truong Gia Binh, Founder and Chairman of FPT Corporation. “As we move toward a self-reliant ASEAN, Vietnam and Indonesia are well-positioned to co-lead a borderless, technology-powered economy where cross-border commerce fuels growth for the entire region. FPT remains committed to supporting Indonesia’s modernization, improving public services, and fostering innovation-led growth in line with Indonesia’s long-term vision.”
Yusmar Anggadinata, President Director of PT LAPI ITB, emphasized the partnership’s role in merging academic research with global innovation. “FPT has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing Indonesia’s digital transformation through its leadership in AI, data analytics, and automation. As the national anchor for standards, innovation, and digital compliance, PT LAPI ITB bridges global technology expertise with academic-driven innovation to accelerate transformation across strategic sectors. Together, we aim to create a sustainable, research-based digital ecosystem that supports Indonesia’s journey toward a smart and inclusive future.”
From an implementation perspective, Dr. Ryan, Managing Director of PT Digital Utama Lestari, highlighted the importance of execution and measurable outcomes. “As the Program Management Office and local transformation partner, Digital Utama Lestari is proud to translate Indonesia’s digital transformation roadmap into tangible impact. Working with FPT and LAPI ITB, we aim to accelerate modernization, empower institutions, and deliver measurable value across industries and regions.”
Strengthening Indonesia’s Digital Ambition
FPT entered the Indonesian market in 2017 and has since established itself as a trusted technology partner to leading enterprises in energy, banking, finance, and telecommunications. Supported by a team of over 200 technology professionals, FPT continues to expand its role in advancing Indonesia’s digital ecosystem.
In 2025, the company signed a USD 67 million agreement with KMP Aryadhana, forged an AI partnership with Pertamina, Indonesia’s state-owned oil and gas corporation, and collaborated with the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) to support Indonesia’s Golden 2045 Vision, which identifies AI as a key driver of future economic growth.
By aligning its global capabilities with Indonesia’s national goals, FPT—together with LAPI ITB and Digital Utama Lestari—seeks to accelerate the country’s digital transformation journey, promote technological sovereignty, and build a future-ready workforce. The collaboration marks a significant milestone in ASEAN’s shared pursuit of an integrated, innovation-led digital economy.
