They will each play critical roles as we position Intel for long-term success.”
Strengthening Sales Leadership with Greg Ernst
Greg Ernst, who has been at the helm of Intel’s Sales and Marketing Group (SMG) since May, now assumes the role of chief revenue officer. Known for his customer-centric approach and deep market insights, Ernst has held a variety of global roles spanning sales, marketing, and product development throughout his career. Before leading SMG, he was responsible for overseeing the group’s operations across the Americas. Ernst’s appointment reflects Intel’s emphasis on fostering stronger customer relationships and driving revenue growth. He will continue to report directly to CEO Lip-Bu Tan.
Engineering Excellence: New Leaders Join Intel
To further reinforce its engineering capabilities, Intel has brought on three industry veterans who will play key roles in advancing the company’s technological roadmap.
Srinivasan Iyengar: Leading Customer Engineering Excellence
Srinivasan Iyengar has joined Intel as Senior Vice President and Fellow, where he will lead a new customer engineering center of excellence. Reporting directly to Lip-Bu Tan, Iyengar will also serve on the Intel Executive Team. With an impressive background in silicon engineering, Iyengar joins from Cadence Design Systems, where he spearheaded global silicon engineering efforts. His expertise lies in helping customers design best-in-class custom silicon solutions, particularly hyperscale data center technologies optimized for specific workloads. Iyengar’s leadership is expected to enhance Intel’s ability to deliver tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of its diverse customer base.
Jean-Didier Allegrucci: Spearheading AI SoC Development
Jean-Didier Allegrucci has been named Vice President of AI System on Chip (SoC) Engineering. In this role, he will oversee the development of multiple SoCs integral to Intel’s AI roadmap. Allegrucci brings extensive experience from his time at Rain AI, an innovative startup where he led AI silicon engineering. Prior to Rain AI, he spent 17 years at Apple, where he played a crucial role in developing more than 30 SoCs used in some of the company’s most iconic products. His expertise in AI-driven SoC architectures positions him as a key figure in accelerating Intel’s advancements in artificial intelligence.
Shailendra Desai: Advancing AI Fabric and Networking
Shailendra Desai has been appointed Vice President of AI Fabric and Networking. He will lead the creation of next-generation SoC architectures for Intel’s AI GPUs and contribute to the company’s forward-looking roadmap. Desai joins Intel from Google, where he managed silicon engineering, architectural design, and platform solutions for multiple mobile SoCs. Before his tenure at Google, he founded and served as CEO of Provino Technologies, an SoC startup acquired by Google in 2021. Both Allegrucci and Desai will report to Sachin Katti, Intel’s Chief Technology and AI Officer, underscoring the importance of their contributions to Intel’s AI strategy.
A Strategic Shift Toward Engineering Focus
These appointments highlight Intel’s renewed focus on becoming a more engineering-driven organization while maintaining strong customer partnerships. By bringing in top-tier talent like Iyengar, Allegrucci, and Desai, Intel aims to accelerate innovation in areas such as AI, data center solutions, and custom silicon design. At the same time, Ernst’s leadership in sales ensures that Intel remains closely aligned with its customers’ needs, enabling the company to deliver products that address real-world challenges.
The integration of these leaders into Intel’s executive team reflects the company’s commitment to building a cohesive strategy that balances technical excellence with market responsiveness. As Intel continues to navigate a rapidly evolving tech landscape, these appointments signal a bold step toward reclaiming its position as a global leader in semiconductor innovation.
